At Guy Roofing, we believe in giving back to those who have given so much for our country. This spring, we had the honor of selecting Rechelle Jordan and her husband as the recipients of our Spring Roof for Heroes recipient. Here is their inspiring story.
Rushell Jordan and her husband, both proud veterans of the United States Army, reside in Charlotte, North Carolina. Rushell served six years in Army Aviation, while her husband dedicated nine years to active duty. Now, both are disabled veterans, navigating the challenges of daily life with the same resilience they demonstrated in service.
The Jordan family purchased their home in the summer of 2015. The house, already 18 years old at the time, needed significant repairs. "Life happens," Rushell shared. "You have to prioritize, and the roof kept getting pushed back and pushed back."
As time went on, the necessity of a roof replacement became more pressing. Yet, like many veterans, the Jordans found it difficult to ask for help. "A lot of veterans don't want to ask for help, we feel very proud and feel like we shouldn't have to ask. We should be able to solve the problem ourselves."
"I got a call saying that we had been chosen, and it's still very surreal even though the roof is on," she said. "I just can't believe that a company would offer so much." The installation of the new roof brought immense relief to the Jordan family.
The Roof for Heroes program not only provides practical assistance but also stands as a testament to Guy Roofing's commitment to the community and to those who have served our country. "These days, I think if the resources are available from companies to offer programs like this, it would really help our veteran community out," Rushell said. "It says a lot about the company and also shows that they care about what they're doing and the community that they're serving."
